VITRA : Upholstery Textiles

Working with Hella Jongerius for Vitra, we developed two textiles from the ground up: Maize and Aura. The process encompassed weave construction, yarn, color and finishing, treating each textile as a complete material rather than simply a surface. Maize explores the interaction of contrasting yarns within a structured weave, creating subtle shifts in color and texture. Aura was developed as a quieter, more continuous textile, with a broad and carefully calibrated palette designed to work across Vitra’s furniture collection. Together, the textiles reflect an approach to color that is embedded in material construction—where hue, fiber, weave and surface are developed simultaneously.
