Knoll : Morrison Hannah Chair
FFor the relaunch of the Morrison Hannah Chair, I developed a new palette of frame finishes and textile pairings that looked closely at thechair’s original material and color language while reconsidering it for a contemporary context.Rather than reproducing the archival palette literally, the process began by identifying its underlying character—the relationships betweenupholstery, painted metal, and color that gave the original chair its particular identity. These became the foundation for a new series of com-binations, retaining a connection to the chair’s history while introducing a more nuanced contemporary point of view.Finish colors and textiles were developed together rather than as separate choices, allowing each pairing to shift the character of the chairas a whole. The resulting palette balances familiarity with something distinctly new: an interpretation of the original rather than a reproduction of it, using color and material to carry the design forward while preserving its identity.
